About Cindy Carlson

Why did I, a busy wife, grandma, and owner/operator of several family businesses, decide to run for State Senator in District 7? I ran for Idaho Senate, District 7 because I was concerned that conservative voices were not being represented in the legislature. In 2022, with your support, we successfully replaced a Republican incumbent who frequently sided with Democrat ideas. He helped kill conservative legislation in committee before they came up for a vote on the Senate Floor. Thankfully, we successfully sent him packing! The days of having District 7’s Senator voting for policies that undercut conservative values are over! Let’s continue to work together to protect these values!

For the past two years, it has been an incredible honor to represent the people of Adams, Idaho, and Nez Perce Counties. I’ve worked tirelessly alongside my colleagues in both the Senate and House to pass legislation that strengthens our communities and our state. I understand that the legislative process takes time and careful consideration, but I have been proud to help move forward important initiatives on property tax relief, school facility funding, responsible spending, voter integrity, and many important social issues. One of the signature legislative issues that I have worked on tirelessly for two years got passed this year. House Bill 710 The Children’s Library Protection Act protects school-age children from being exposed to harmful (aka pornographic) material. I have made it a priority to protect children whatever the cost. There is always more to do, but together, we have made significant progress.

I have a unique perspective that helps me understand and appreciate the issues we are facing today. The Carlson family has been ranching on the Salmon River for more than 100 years. This gives me a deep appreciation and understanding of our natural resource issues. I also have tangible and practical business experience in logging, trucking, aerial wildland firefighting, powerline construction, and tourism.

I am a constitutional conservative, pro-family, pro-life, and proud Idaho gun owner. I am happy to be married to my sweetheart, Guy, for 42 years. Together, we have successfully created multiple local businesses that are operational and employing Idahoans. We have four grown children who have successful careers in aviation and eight energetic grandkids. My deep faith in God, love for family and community have been the foundation of who I am and have helped to achieve success in business and now public service.

My family and I are HARD CORE CONSERVATIVES! I will continue to be your voice at the Capitol, fighting for freedom, less government, protecting families, children, and our way of life.

I am a past School Board Member of JSD #241 Grangeville and #243 Salmon River. I was part of a phenomenal team that was able to manage the newly created JSD #243. I know from this experience firsthand how important it is to empower parents and confirm that it is their responsibility to be involved in the school system and what is taught to their children.

I am involved in the helicopter industry and am active in the Vertical Association International (VAI) Restricted & Experimental Category Aircraft (RECA) and the VAI Utilities, Patrol, and Construction (UPAC) Working Groups.

You have been told this before, but this really is the most important election of our lifetime. Besides asking for your vote for me on November 5, I am asking for you to vote for Donald Trump for President and to vote NO on Proposition 1 aka Ranked Choice Voting. Prop 1 is a Democrat scheme to take over Idaho politics. They message RCV as Open Primaries, but this is far from Open Primaries. Do your research and then vote NO. I urge anyone who supports conservative values to vote NO on this initiative.

If you believe, like I do, that we need to stay the course and continue keeping Idaho a conservative state, let me continue to be your advocate to prevent Idaho from tilting LEFT of center.

I am Cindy Carlson, your District 7 Senator, and I am ALL IN FOR IDAHO!
